The Association
The Société d’Histoire et d’Archéologie d’Aime is a non-profit organization member of the Société Savante de Savoie.
Located in Aime, Haute-Tarentaise, it aims to promote and preserve the historical heritage of the Tarentaise Valley through various activities:
- Participate in the development of the ‘Des Pierres et des Hommes’, anarchaeological Museum
- Develop the library of nearly 5,000 books
- Organize conferences open to the general public, free admission
- Plan trips around historical themes
- Hold guided tour of local heritage
- Monitoring potential archaeological discoveries
The association’s logo is a mascaron representing a Greek mask.
It comes from a Roman oil lamp on display at the ‘Des Pierres et des Hommes’ Museum, an archaeological site.

Aime (Latin: Axima) was the capital of the Roman province of the Graecian Alps (Latin: Alpe Graiæ).
