About Us

The Société d’Histoire et d’Archéologie d’Aime  (SHAAIME) is a Société Savante de Savoie located in Aime (Haute-Tarentaise valley), founded in 1968 by  Dr. Pierre Borrione,  Dr. Pierre Debeauvais and Mr  the abbot Marius Hudry.

The charter of the association is to promote and preserve the historical heritage of the Haute Tarentaise valley, namely between the Siaix Strait and the sources of the Isère river.

The news feed on the News page informs you about the association’s recent activities.

The SHA Aime also offers evening lectures (in french only) on local history. These lectures are held approximately once a month on Fridays in the Aime auditorium. They are open to the public.

On the travel page,  you will find a list of cultural outings available for a day and/or a week, open to members of the association (who are up to date with their membership fees).

It is also possible to purchase books from the bookshop page.

The library has nearly 5,000 works, rarely found elsewhere. This list can be consulted online on the CAtalogue commun des Sociétés Savantes de Savoie : CASSS.

For those interested in local heritage, tours of the archaeological museum, “Des Pierres et des hommes” (Stones and Men), which displays artifacts discovered at various excavation sites in the valley, are available (contact the La Plagne Vallée Tourist Office in Aime).
It is also possible to use the virtual tour app (available in multiple languages) to explore Aime’s historical monuments.
